چکیده

Thermal tolerance parameters of swordtail (Xiphophorus maculatus) and platy (X. helleri) at three acclimation temperatures were determined in the study. The CTMin values 20, 24 28°C temperature 9.41,10.42 11.95°C respectively for 9.38,11.5 13.23°C swordtail, while CTMax 37.41, 39.19 40.52°C 36.94, 38.89 40.07°C swordtail. Accordingly, affected lower upper tolerances fish by 3-4 °C. ARR varied between 0.42-0.42 0.20-0.34 platy, ranged 0.29-0.48 0.33-0.44 depending on temperature. polygon area (232°C2) was slightly higher than that (217.3°C). fact both species have limits their geographic distribution aquaculture subtropical climates where water drops to 10°C winter.

Investigation of LC50, NOEC, and LOEC of Oxadiazon, Deltamethrin, and Malathion on Platy Fish (Xiphophorus Maculatus)

Background: The presence of pesticides is very prevalent in surface waters of Iran due to their huge consumption for agricultural purpose. These toxic substances may accumulate in the food chain and cause serious ecological and health problems. Chemical pesticides with persistent molecules (long half-life periods) pose a threat to aquatic life forms and the human population consuming the affe...

Distinguishing kinds of prior dominance and subordination experiences in males of green swordtail fish (Xiphophorus helleri).

In experiments, there are usually two general ways of obtaining dominants and subordinates to test for the effect of recent experience upon ulterior behavior and dominance. One is to 'impose' such an experience on the contestants by a priori deciding which individual of the pair will become the dominant and which will become the subordinate through the use of rigged contests. The second techniq...

Outcome of dyadic conflict in male green swordtail fish, Xiphophorus helleri:

Abstract. The relative contribution of prior experience and of size asymmetries to the determination of dyadic dominance between unfamiliar individuals was examined using pairs of green swordtail fish, Xiphophorus helleri. Three experiments were conducted to assess the extent to which superiority in size could override potential handicaps resulting from prior experience. These results indicated...
